Three weeks till surgery

Oliver is a lab/pit mix missing his rear right leg and previously had surgery on his rear left knee following a torn ACL.  Recently, he started showing signs of pain, occasionally severe but occasionally seeming fine, which caused him to sit and stop after a few moments of activity.  He seemed happy and energetic, but something was clearly off.  Eventually, we learned he has arthritis and hip dysplasia.  He was just approved as a good candidate for hip replacement surgery and we were told there is a good chance of success, but little data available.  We looked for any information or stories from folks in similar situations and couldn’t find anything.  We are going to use this blog to chronicle his surgery, recovery, and rehabilitation.  Thank you for reading and we hope you find this story helpful.

  1. Hi Oliver and family, thank you for joining and starting a blog. We will be really interested in following your journey so thank you for taking time to share it. Here at Tripawds we have had a few different Tripawds go through a leg or hip surgery after becoming an amputee, see:

    1. Thanks, Jerry! It’s great to know at least a few others have successfully completed the journey we’re starting. We want to use this blog to chronicle each step in the process and detail the obstacles, struggles, and triumphs on the road to recovery.
